The Biobank building
Equipped with the most advanced robot technology on the market the new Danish National Biobank building on the Statens Serum Institute premises covers 3,225 m2 for storage, easy retrieval and optimum utilisation of biological samples.
Safe and efficient storage
Specialist knowledge and systems have been drawn together to ensure that biological samples can be stored safely and efficiently for many years. A 19 metre high-tech store kept at -20C is at the heart of the storage facility.
A robotics system controls the archival and retrieval processes and can put away thousands of samples per hour.
Energy-saving and flood-proof
The building itself is a 3-storey over basement construction built to the latest flood-proofing standards and with a recovery plant for reuse of surplus heat from the freezers for comfort heating of laboratories and office space on the 2nd and 3rd floor.
